Level Scripting (Iris)


The heaviest part of the scripting for this level is probably not the difficulty, but the number of interactions the player will need to have. In order to accomplish the ultimate goal of planting tomato seeds, the player will need to pick up items, explore the area, hoe the ground, plant seeds, water the seeds, and collect water. The main obstacle the player faces is keeping bugs off of the farmland by killing them with pesticides so the player will also need to be able to have a pesticide weapon they can use. My current idea is for the bugs to be randomly and automatically spawned using an enemy spawner disguised as a bush. To reach the final goal, the player must walk around the level and find all the tools in order to plant the seeds. As the player finds the different items, I want to create an inventory UI that will allow them to easily switch between using the different items they have collected. I will also be working closely with Seth to see how we want to give feedback to the player about how their interactions will receive feedback from the game.
